The GAME plan process would be a beneficial tool for use in the classroom and a skill to teach students to utilize independently. I have found a lot of personal success and have been surprised with how easily my plan fell into place, and I feel comfortable and motivated to pass the skill onto my students. It would be a great tool to use at the beginning of the year—for students to set goals for themselves in relation to the science curriculum and technology areas they feel they can or should work to improve on over the course of the school year. It is something we can complete within the first week and monitor/edit as the year progresses. I can imagine some students will need to edit more than others as they find success and wish to move further past their development goals.

Erin,
ReplyDeleteI am really glad that you feel comfortable enough to implement your GAME plan with your students in your curriculum. I also love how you use the KWHL charts because the technology allows them to go in and edit their goals as they go along. It is a great organizer for their material. THis is definitely one of the best ways that I can think about how to get students to set goals and see that they have accomplished them.
Great post!

I want to have my students create GAME plans at the beginning of next year as well, but structure them according to the four marking periods that we have. I always give out a syllabus that outlines what topics will be covered in each quarter, so the students can base their plans off of that. Like you said, the constant monitoring is a must, and some students will need more modification than others. Hopefully, by the last quarter, students will be able to self-evaluate themselves, and be able to pick logical, attainable goals. This seems like a great way to include the NETS-S standards while still covering the curriculum.
